About Mr. Riccelli
Michael Riccelli has resided in the Spokane area since 1976, after receiving his economics and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa. Mr. Riccelli later received a masters degree in business administration from Eastern Washington University. Mr. Riccelli was admitted to practice law in Iowa in 1976, and in Washington in 1977.
Through 1986, Mr. Riccelli was primarily involved with industry, commerce, and trade, both domestically and internationally, where he successfully negotiated and helped to implement numerous multi-million dollar transactions involving domestic and international business entities, financial institutions and government and military agencies. During that time, he was also involved with issues concerning liability and health insurance, labor relations and employment practices, product liability, human relations, and civil rights.
Beginning in 1986, Mr. Riccelli began to concentrate his law practice on the litigation of complex commercial, insurance, personal injury, and wrongful death claims. In the years since 1986, Mr. Riccelli's representation of individual claimants and aggrieved family members in serious personal injury and wrongful death claims has become the focus of his practice.
Mr. Riccelli generally represents claimants on a contingent fee plus expenses basis. Contingent fee representation means that compensation for the investment of Mr. Riccelli's and his staff's time, expertise, and resources in representing a claimant is paid only from the actual proceeds recovered on a claim. The proceeds of a claim can be recovered by settlement, or the award of an arbitrator, judge, or jury.
Due to Mr. Riccelli's broad and multi-disciplined education, experience, and training, he is uniquely situated to represent clients in simple to complex disputes and claims, through settlement, alternative dispute resolution (mediation or arbitration), or formal litigation.
Mr. Riccelli has litigated claims before juries and in the trial courts of the State of Washington and other state's courts; has participated in formal binding arbitration, both domestically and internationally; and has been heard before the appellate and supreme courts of the State of Washington. Mr. Riccelli has also been involved in litigation before various federal district courts, and has been heard before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Riccelli enjoys a reputation of being an aggressive, competent, and caring attorney, both among his peers and with his many past and current clients.
